Hi,

In an article by Greg VanWyngarden on the Marine Feldjagdstaffeln, there is more specification on the colors of the units from the 26th October 1918 on.
That Jasta II had a yellow band and black markings, clearly shows the hand of Theo Osterkamp to keep his personal markings on his plane.
What I find confusing is that Sachsenberg, which had a diamond chequered fuselage in Black and Yellow, gives up his colors for a ligh blue band with white markings ( see also the Sachsenberg Junkers order thread with these colors on one found near Brussels ).
Anyone having any ideas concerning his personnal markings or any other ones of the I MFJ ?

Thanks and best from Johan

My Gallery
If I recall are we talking about the Order or other document describing markings of all MFJ after Seefront Staffels where formed up as MFJ IV and V?

Unless a photo surfaces and given so late in the war I would think it only speculation that he changed any markings unless possibly he was assigned or took charge of another DVII as another mount? His DVII with the yellow/black diamond was an early version of the Fokker.

Hi,

Indeed that's the document. Nobody seems to know anything solid on the last weeks of the Marine Feldjasta's and the colours of the various units, by which I mean if there was indeed made any change to the markings on the planes in use. And who was flying what. This was not only the DVII but also the EV from Fokker, better known as the flying rasor, as you know.
The last known photo's, to my humble opinion of the units dat from August 1918 at Jabbeke aerodrome.

Best from Johan

Hi

It is a possibility that the commander of MFJ I at the late time of the War, Lt dR MI Philipp Becht did have some influence on the painting scheme "Hellblaues Band mit weissen Zeichen"..??

Why MFJ IV choose the green (hellgrünen) color is another good question...

It is obvious that Sachsenberg as the overall commander of the Marine Jagdgeschwader Flandern could use any color as he liked, despite that he most certain flew mostly together with his old unit..

Hi Gunnar,

Talking about Becht, has anyone confirmation of the personal colors on his HB ?

Most say red and white, but some already mentioned blue and white in the past, which could if right be the reason to the colors of the unit...

But the combination on the MFJ IV colors is indeed even a bigger mystery... !

Thanks and best from Johan
