Another question which came up:
When did FA (Lb) 3 and FA(A) 250 leave Bisseghem Airfield in 1918. I thought they stayed until the airfield was evacuated in October 1918. However I can find no trace of FA 3 in September-October 1918 and FA(A) 250 is linked with Heule in an order dated 11 October 1918.
Does anyone know when these units left Bisseghem?

Regards,
Jan

Hello,

I'm finishing my book and I still didn't find when approximately FA(A) 250 and FA 3 (Lb) left Bisseghem airfield in 1918...

Is there no one here who could help me?

Regards,
Jan

I can promise nothing but I will look at home in my files concerning FA(A) 250. After EOW the unit came back to Großenhain/Saxony. Please, be patient some days.

VBR

Sadly, I did not find a helpful information concerning FA(A) 250 for September/OCtober 1918.

PS: Is the short note of a paper about FA(A) 250 return to Großenhain after EOW of any help for you?

Hello Rammjaeger,

Unfortunately that doesn't help me. I'm still uncertain about the presence of both units here in Bisseghem in 1918...
For the moment I'm inclined to think that FA(A) 250s wasn't in Bisseghem in 1918 and FA 3 was there until September-October, all this being very uncertain...

I would be very happy to hear any opinions...

Regards,
Jan

Hello Jan,

Last week I was in Ypres and I bought Bernard Deneckere's book Luchtoorlog boven West-Vlaanderen 1914-1918 (Airwar above West-Flanders 1914-1918).
According to this book FA 3 was in Bissegem and FA 250 in Bissegem or Menen-Coucou (in June 1918).
After 14 October 1918 FA 3 went to Zottegem and FA 250 went to the region Ronse.

Hope this helps.

Hallo Jan,
my information about FA(A) 250 and FA 3Lb:

FA(A) 250:
April 1917 Airfield Menen West
November 1917 Airfield Hele
10. October 1918 the unit left Hele and stayed now in Airfield Stasgem.
(Gefechtslandeplatz Hele)
19. October 1918 left Stasgem and stay now in Hundelgem.

FA 3Lb:
April 1917 Airfield Bisseghem
November 1917 Airfield Aarsele
April 1918 Airfield Thielt

Jan, that's all.

Hallo Jan,
Sorry I make a mistake with the name Heule.

FA(A) 250:

November 1917 Airfield Heule
10. October 1918 the unit left Heule and stayed now in Airfield Stasgem.
(Gefechtslandeplatz Heule)

Thanks to both for the answers.

Reinhard,
I think you may be right.
I have this info from the book of Deneckere but thought the info wasn't correct as info about deaths from the units pointed towards other airfields.
Also I think that the moving of the front in April-May 1918 caused the Germans to largely abandon Bisseghem airfield and use it as a training airfield for the Armee-Flugpark 4 (from June onwards). I doubt that experienced airmen wanted those rookies on their airfield...

Jan
