On Patrick Wilson's website regarding 100 Squadron former gunner/observer Roy Shillinghaw is quoted as saying that in his Lewis M.G.'s every third round was a tracer. Was this typical of the RFC/RAF? Did it vary with ground forces? How about German, French, Yanks etc.?
Thanks
