Hi,

I need urgently translations (English language) for some German special terms for an upcoming article.
I ask here because I have no permanent access to the Internet and not enough English literature (and time for searching) available just now.

The terms are referring to the Flak:

seitlicher Beobachter
Auswanderungsmesser
Höhenmesser
Munitionskanonier (it is not the Ladekanonier!)
Kastendrachen
Seitenrichtung /Seitenrichtfeld
Höhenrichtfeld
Räderlafetten
Schnelladeschiffskanone

anschneiden (in the military sense)
Flakmessgeräte
Kommandogerät
Rohrzerspringer /Rohrkrepierer
Rohrerhöhung
Vorhaltetafel

Rammjaeger,
I can understand your predicament.
My German is poor and my translation skills are feeble, but a few of the simple terms I can read.

Höhenmesser = Altimeter
Kastendrachen = Box kite
Räderlafetten = Carriage (as in Wheel Carriage perhaps)
Höhenrichtfeld = Elevation range ?
Seitenrichtfeld = Lateral range ?
Seitenrichtung = Lateral direction ?

Others I can "direct translate" word for word and although the subject is known its difficult to understand especially without the context of a sentence. I'll try working on a few more ..with the help of an online translator

Schnelladeschiffskanone = Rapid-fire naval cannon = Rapid-fire naval gun

Flakmessgeräte = Flak measuring instrument = flak gauge

Kommandogerät = Command instrument = Control unit

Anschneiden = broach (turn broadside to the wind)

Rohrerhöhung = Elevation

Some of these are shots in the dark. Pardon the pun.

I believe all terms starting with "Rohr" (pipe) are in reference to the gun barrel.

Rohrerhöhung = Gun barrel elevation

Rohrzerspringer / Rohrkrepierer = Gun barrel burst (perhaps used when indicating the size or frequency of the Flak bursts or rate-of-fire ...but at this point I'm starting to guess.)

Yes, the Rohr is meaning a gun barrel.

A "Rohrkrepierer" is a grenade exploding already inside the barrel of the gun. Afterwards the gun looks mostly like a banana prepared for the consumption!
