Jasta 6 aerodromes March-May 1917

Hello,

On 18 March 1917 Jasta 6 was still assigned to german 2. Armee and was stationed on the aerodrome Ugny-l'Equipée, ca 8 km N of Ham. The next day Jasta 6 had to change the aerodrome because of the beginning of the german retreat to the "Hindenburg Line", some 30 km to the east (Siegfried-Stellung).

In most of the well known publications it is said that Jasta 6 moved on 19 March 1917 from the aerodrome Ugny-l'Equipée within german 2.Armee to the german 4. Armee on 20 Mar 1917 and was stationed at the aerodrome Aulnoye.

But the only Aulnoye I could find on the map is located 28 km SE of Valenciennes within german 1. Armee area and ( at least I think so...) too far away from the front lines. On the other hand all the Jasta 6 claims between the end of March 1917 and the end of May 1917 were claimed in the area around St.Quentin - Cambrai (within german 1. and 2 Armeen) but obviously not within german 4.Armee in Flanders

So can anyone tell me the exact location and the propper assignement of Jasta 6 between 20 March 1917 - 9 June 1917?

Aulnoye-Aymeries??

Immo_Frese:
Jasta 6 was stationed in the German 2.Armee at Aulnoye-Aymeries. It is 23 kmNNW of Avenes, 8 km east of Berlaimont, 30 km SSE of Bavay.and 3km SW of Maubeuge.
Blue skies,

Thanks for your answer, Dan-San. Yes, that's the Aulnoye I'm talking about. So we can take out 4.Armee for sure.

The reason for my confusion was, that on 18.March (the beginning of the german retreat to the Hindenburg-Line) german 1.Armee was still the right neighbour of german 2.Armee and Aulnoye was located more within 1.Armee area... Meanwhile I found out, that on 12 April 1917 german 1.Armee was disbanded an rebuilt on 16 April on the Aisne-Front between german 7. and 3. Armee. That means that german 2.Armee area-borders changed also during this time...now with Aulnoye completely belonging to german 2.Armee...
