Informations request

Hi,

My name is Philippe Herchuel and i'm kindly searching history informations of the Chièvres Airbase for the Museum created by retired member of the 8th group unit of belgian airforces.

Sorry for my english, but there's 20 years then I've not practised

For our museum, we are looking for all documents, papers, photo's, objects, materials and stories about Chièvres airbase.

This airbase was built by Germans in 1940, used by Italians still 1942 and after by the germans with the III/Jg26.

Here are the links of our museum of the chièvres airbase:
Museum

Other site

We need all about the period of 1940 to 1945.

Also, I know that's more difficult, we are looking about all things we can find for the period of 1914 - 1918 when the germans came for the first time at Chièvres air base...

I found lot's of informations on your greatful site, but if you have more, I'll be interested.
It's very important for us to keep the memory of this military airbase.

If you have something for us, or if you know someone who was there during this period, and then can help us with its archives, we need your help.

Thanks a lot for all.

And good job for your site, it's like an encyclopedia.

Spitfire, good morning. I have visited your museum in Chievres, and it is very well done. My congratulations. Unfortunately, I do not have any documents or photos I can provide. However, have you talked to the Public Affairs Office at Daumerie Kaserne in Chievres? They may be able to help. I suspect that the US Air Force Museum at Dayton Ohio or the USAF Historical Center at Maxwell AFB might be able to assist you. Good luck. Doc

Doc,

Thanks for your response and your congratulations then I report to the organizers of the museum.

One of our members work with the public relationship service at caserne Daumerie and all was exploited with them.
I'll try to contact the other source you gave to me, and I'll see what they could do for us.

I always hope that a veteran who served at this period or if a member of the family of an older veteran (for the WWI periods) could help me with its personnal archives, but it's very difficult... But hope makes life...

History is an eternal research...

Thanks for all.
