Vladslo Cemetary special unit burials

Hi,

At the German military cemetery of Vladslo are some special units burials. *Does anyone can tell where these units were stationed ?

Jastaschule II (all 1918 burials)
R. Flieger Abt. 501 (all 1918 burials)
Flieger Beobachtungsschule West (all 1918 burials)

Hi Regulus,

If I remember right:

Jastaschule II = Nivelles
Fliegerbeobachterschule West = Tergnier (?)
Riesenfl.-Abt.501 = Scheldewindeke (?)

Hi Regulus

A little side-note, I have R-FA 501 as serving within 4 German Army(Fladers) between 7 May 1918 until 3 Oct 1918..

Thanks Immo !

Gunnar, any idea where they were stationed. They seem to have suffered quite some losses !

Hi

I agree with Immo that R-FA 501 where stationed at Scheldewindeke, probably during their whole time within 4 German Army.

What is your notes about "high" losses during their service within 4 Army....I only have notes on two a/c losses through accidents and none due enemy action during their Flanders service..??

???

Hi,

I have unfortunately not noted all the losses at the time of this unit on the Vladslo cemetery, as I did not find that unit important to my research.
But here are some that I do have, that I took as an example :

- Lt.d.R. Martin Bohme + 21 april 1918 at Westrozebeke
- Lt.d.R. Lothar Friedrich +10 may 1918 at Scheldewindeke
- Flieger Alois Langner + 9 may 1918 at Gent
- Uffz. Richard Maiwald + 16 august 1918 at Gent, dead of wounds
- Flieger Richard Oblander + 9 may 1918 at Gent

Don't know if it will of any help to you, or if all is correct.

Hm...

The loss of R 34 on 21 April 1918 when it chrashed because of unknown reason (at least 7 crew where killed included Böhme) indicates that they perhaps served within 4 Army before 7 May 1918....?
....or did they only flew over the area this day..?
The Staken RVI was really a long distance aircraft..
