I am no expert on helmets, but as I look through my old photos and postcards, this appears to be a typical pre-wear civilian helmet, worn by many of the early pilots from about 1911-1914. I wonder if the Aussi flight helmet was some special design, or if it was simply purchased from the civilan economy? Doc

Helmets like these were also made for early motocycle and automobile drivers. It is hard to say whether one was used by a pilot or a driver unless there is some information on the original owner with it or unless it is marked by a military air service.

SOME considerable improvement will be found in the latest pattern G.A.C.-Roold safety helmet, which Messrs. The General Aviation Contractors, Ltd., of 30, Regent Street, London, S.W., received from Paris during the recent Olympia Aero Show.
