Armee flug park 5 (Habay-la-vieille)

Hello! Good evening! I am new on this forum!

I am living in Habay-la-Neuve, south of Belgium, and have high interest in the local history.
I am looking for ANY information regarding a german aerodrome located close to this village (1916?/1918). A mail letter from a german soldier is stamped with the info "Fliegerschule Habay la Vieille". H-la-Vieille is close to H-la-Neuve. The verbal tradition is saying that aircrafts were "assembled" in this facility and that parachute trials have been made by using dogs. Based on my search on this forum, this aerodrome could be part of the AFP5, together wit Montmédy in France.

I thank you very much in advance for any help !

Afp 5

Hello Alexis,

I know Thonne-les-Près was Armee-Flug-Park 5 in the year 1915/16/17.
Thonne-les-Près is a little town near Montmedy.
At the end of the war maybe AFP 5 moved to Habay-la-vieille.

Afp5-Habay

Fliegertruppe, good morning!

Thanks for your info!

Montmédy is not far from Habay (42 Km). One of these days, I will travel overthere to try to find information about this AFP (communal administration?, local historian?, cemetery?).
I have 6 aerial pictures of AFP5-Habay, taken by a german pilot but due to attachment size limitation !... and I have to learn to create an URL...! I am on the way to obtain a 7th picture ...

Good day !

AFP 5 Thonne-les-Près

Hello Alexis,
some years ago I was in Thonne-les-Près and the former airfield regarded. The former airfield is still a field. The Hanger was used then however torn off to about 1980.

Gruß
Reinhard
