G'day Graeme and Russ,

Thank you both for the information lots of "things" coming together. The file that I have on the Observer I have an interest in is becoming thicker!
This is just a quick message to acknowledge your messages - have to attend a meeting and will probably be in touch this evening.

Regards Les

Hi Graeme and Russ,

Thought it easier to reply to both at same time.
Graeme the information you gave has helped form a picture of what happened on the 25th Jan 1917 concerning both 2Lt Aldler and Lt White, the information concerning Karl von Grieffenhagen was also useful. Weather much better here now but like you have only managed a couple of BBQs. I am off to Portsmouth in the last week of July and first week of August - a little bit of military duty!

Russ, a pity you never made it to Cornwall, Dorset is OK, trust you enjoyed the Tank Museum at Bovvy - been there a few times myself...not always in the museum though!
I have since your email managed to establis, through other means, that " the day Lt White was taken prisoner, was wounded at a height of 13,500 feet and the earoplane came down out of control. The Officer was picked up under the extreme edge of the left wing and remained unconscious for 4 days".

Mar 24 1917 Reported POW and being held at Karlruhe, Baden, Germany
Oct 9 1917 Now reported being held at Schwarmstedt, Germany
Oct 16 1917 Now being reported held at Holzminden, Germany
April 9 1918 Now reported held at Bad Colberg, Germany
Nove 30th 1918 - Repatriated to England

I am now wondering if anyone is able to provide information on any of these POW camps, photos even.

Regards Les
