Term/unit title help

Hello

I've just joined this marvelous site after browsing for several hours. WWI military service is tangent and inclusive to my inter-wars and WWII biographical research. I'm hoping one of the more skilled members can point me in a direction for simple term or unit explanation for several WWI unit types and posts as I found the glossary section lacking in my needs. I have the officers assignments and dates but wish to understand what and where they were:

Gruppenfuhrer der Flieger and anything about GdF 35. I assume the numerical designations are higher than the number of Gruppenführer der Flieger that existed.

Feldflieger Abteilung (beyond the literal Field Flight Detachment) and location of FFA 47 in May 1916 and January 1917

Armee Flug Park (more than the literal translation) and location of AFP 6 (Feb-April 1917) and AFP 10 (Sept/Oct 1916)

Thank you for any possible explanation someone might provide,
Mark

Hi Mark

You are correct that it rather certain did not exist any Grufl 35, so your source are confusing....is it hand-written..?

I have FFA 47 at Kovno within Scholtz Army in Jun 1916, early 1917 the unit moved to Flanders within 4 Army, and was around same time renamed to FA 6.
It seems that they did not have any airfield in Jan 1917 as they were on the move. They probabaly arrived to Bisseghem airfield around 9 Feb 1917...

An AFP did have several duties, the most important was probably transfer of personal and a/c from and to units within an specific Army, you will find better information if you use the search-engine for this site.

AFP 6 was situated at Pont a Chin (near Tournai) from late 1916 to early 1918.

I dont have the location for AFP 10 in the autumn of 1916, but in 1917 one source (not complete reliable) give the location at Kovno.

Which officers are you searching the career of..?

My Gallery
Grulf und AFP

yewrg:
In the aviation organization of an Armee was the Kommandeur der Flieger (KoFl ) at the Armee level. With the Gruppenführer (Grufl) at the Armee Korp level. The Grufl commanded the Feldflieger Abteilungand later the Flieger Abtleilungen, Flieger Abteilungen A and the Schutzstaffeln later Schlachtstaffeln assigned at Armee Korp level. The Jagdstaffeln and Kampfstaffeln were under the control of the KoFl. The Armee Flugpark, AFP were under the command of the KoFl. The AFP was in function and Air Depot, charged with the supply of all aviation equipment, parts and supplies, personnel within a field army. Within the AFP were aircraft and engine repair shops. The AFP held in stores three aircraft of each type in service within that army. Also with the AFP were three ground assigned to the AFP from each aviation unit in that army.
Subordinant to the AFP, were Tank Stelle, Gas stations were postioned between the AFP and front units. They held in stores fuel, oil, ammunition, propellers, wheels etc that are in high usage. This curtailed traffic at the AFP.
That is a nutshell explanation.
Blue skies,
Dan-San
