Your favorite WWI aviation tale
YAAAAAAY!!I've reached post #1000!!
Anyway, this thread is about your favorite tale of WWI aviation!
My favorite story is when a British pilot and a German pilot planned to duel each other in the evening. They then fought each other for minutes without gaining anything. They then gave up and decided to fly side by side and enjoyed the sunset and latter waved each other fairwell and returned to their lines.IMHO,that has to be the most touching story of WWI aviation.

It's an interesting story that I sometimes go back and read again. So byfar, it's William Barker against the 60 or 15 (whichever one is correct) German pilot's.

My Dear Ginger,
I vaguely remember hearing something about this engagement.
It does sound like it would make for an excellent nighty night story.
I will have to research this tale in more depth as time allows.
As always, it is a pleasure to see you up here amongst us.
Who in the HELL left the basement door open again?
This has been happening way too frequently as of late!
We let a few people from up here visit the Aerodrome's underbelly and this is what happens!

My favorite story is the one of Louis Strange trying to reload his Lewis gun. He held the stick between his knees, and attempted to take the drum off. The airplane went into a stall, then rolled over on its back. Strange was ut of the airplane, hanging on to the drum, dangling from it. The plane went into a spin and Strange was stuggling to get back inside the cockpit. He managed to kick his way back inside the cockpit and regain control. (Whaddya wanna bet he had to change his underwear when he landed? lol)
