What has any of this got to do with Manfred Von Richthofen hanging Monks in Belgium?

CHOCK

The 'tedium' comes from the rising crescendo of abuse you are directing at me!

I will make a few points--it is impossible that you imagine I can stay out (even though that was my intention) if I'm continually being attacked in person (ad Hominem). These demand answers.

In your post 186 wherein you gave a 'summing up' so to speak of why America entered W.W.1 you signally failed to mention the main reason----probably because it confirms all of my talk about retalliation--not to mention German perfidy!

The Zimmerman telegram offered Mexico most if not all of the possessions taken from it in the previous war between itself and America on condition that Mexico declared war on and invaded America. I believe Germany found itself at war with America as retaliation (that awful word again) for attempting to foment a war on Americas doorstep----

I repeat ---because the severity and lack of reasonableness of your latest posts make it quite obvious that I must ----You condemmed Bomber Harris and the late war bombing campaign--and especially Dresden--and one of the books you quoted as "my main sources for info relating to Dresden" was a book about the Battle of Britain which nowhere ever mentions Dresden.

You then entered into a post trying to 'prove' that it's message of appeasement and latent dangers from the crumbling Empire and the giant Russia told us------what?--well, nothing about Dresden i'm afraid--or why you would consult a book on matters pertaining to Dresden which never touches on Dresden. I quote "Appeasement being something a good many short-sighted people in the U.K. were in favour of"---which sounds very dramatic---and of course in the narrowest of sense is correct----but in a Global concept you would have been better saying almost the whole world were in favour of appeasement! "Peace was an important thing" wrote American Journalist Virginia Cowles after Munich--" Chamberlin was the hero of the day" Shops displayed Chamberlin Dolls and sugar umbrellas--and in Scandanavia there was a movement to present the British leader with a Trout stream. 'Invasion 1940' Derek Robinson.

My writing of ---as you rather chidishly put it "chock did this and chock did that---is in direct Retaliation (that word again) of you writing Dave did this and Dave did that----it has the same worth----but retaliation can be a bugger can't it!

I can't help returning to this thread to defend myself from most unpleasantly couched attacks --and reserve the right to do so again of course. There is also nothing at all intelligent about failing in the argument and resorting to abusive postings in an attempt to get you out of it. I have no respect for people who attack other members in person as you have taken to --of course i can have for those that limit themselves to attacking the 'argument'

You have failed in the one--and not succeeded in the other!

Dave.

I didn't neglect to mention anything, my post was merely clarifying a couple of points with regard to the Lusitania and the Geneva Convention, read the first line of that post and the intent is apparent enough from what it says in that first line.

But, if that's what you think then fine, feel free to do so. I'll let anyone else who cares to have an opinion on the matter draw their own conclusions in the confidence that they'll see what is plain enough. Now can we please get on with discussing the First World War?

Ash: Look, maybe I didn't say every single little tiny syllable, no. But basically I said them, yeah.
