Just another welcome back for Manfred! I will also add a few things for future thought.
1. Dan San Abbott has offerred an Olive Branch! Thank you Dan!
2. We should remember that although a lot of us are English speakers as our first language(Only language in my case), Manfred is not. I feel many times misinterpretations have resulted in hard feelings. JMHO.
3. When Manfred first began posting I thought he was a "TROLL". Little did I know who he was, and just how far his knowledge reached! It was my misinterpretation of Manfreds style !
4. In my opinion, Manfred is not one to give answers to every inquirery. He will post a comment as he did here, then allow us to debate and challenge. We all should recognize that this is not meant to be antagonistic. Believe me it took me a while to come to this conclusion.
5. Manfred does need to understand that diagreement or questions are not personal attacks. Of course this can be said of many of us!
Scott, thanks for allowing Manfred another chance. Lets hope he and others make the best of the lifting of the ban. Again JMHO,
RAGIII

Congratulations and talk to you soon.

A very BIG THANK YOU to you Lloyd and all of the others that put out an effort for this great event.
Also to those that have publicly stated this desire. : )
I am beside myself with joy, any happier and I would be twins!

Hi Rick (?) RAGIII,
I couldn't agree more with what you have so eloquently expressed.
With exception to the "Troll" part as MT was my first friend on the Aerodrome.
A BIG Slice of Raisin Pie, (or what ever your poison is!)
to our Administrator Scott for this momentous occassion!
OK, Enough Back Slapping Fest for now.... What was the Topic?
Just kidding, let the back slapping continue!
Very Best Wishes, Jay aka FOKKERJ
P.S. I agree with Laserlloyd, Manfred T. sounds like a good name as I believe that FOKKERJ has already been taken!!!! LOL
Seriously, I am sure that which ever name you choose, that you would be hard to miss. : )
All is good.... Now I can go back to carving on my little plastic airplanes,
.001 to several thousandths at a time,
making little plastic curly chips.
I only hope that I can remember how to glue and paint them!

Reason: Laserlloyd switch in P.S. and added BOLD print on addition.

Hello all,
I am glad MT is back, but could we please go back to the original topic?
Who has more information on the events of April 30th, 1917? Was there a coordinated "sweep" from an unified Geschwader at all? The KTB's of the involved Jastas did not report anything as such.
Where were the involved Jastas based? Jasta 11 at Roucourt. Was Jasta 4 at Roucourt as well? Jasta 3 was right there in front of them at Guesnain ? Jasta 33?
The lineup photo. What was the date and ocassion of this photo? Does it show aircraft from all these 4 Jastas, or only Jastas 4 and 11 ? The first aircraft?
What about Geiseler’s zlg victory?
The markings and colors on Geiseler’s aircraft? etc, etc
George

It is said that Manfred von Richthofen did not fly on April 30th 1917
So, I begin to wonder………
Would the memorable event of that day, which “supposedly” gave origin to “ Richthofen’s Geschawader”, had taken place without him?
Would MvR watch such an important event from the ground while been there on the field? Would the High Command allowed this? MvR’s leadership and command would have certainly been required.
Did the event really happened, or was April 30th just another day, one which MvR used to prepare bags for his upcoming trip to Berlin?
George

Hi all,
I'm not used with computers, so it last a little bit to login.
Thank you, Scott Hamilton.
And thanks to all friends, especially to FOKKERJ.
It's late in the evening here - see you later.

Hi George and WILKOMMEN to ManfredT,
I believe from all that I have studied here that I have the answer for you.
No, No, No, & NO!
30-04-17 was a very special day indeed, for one Ltn. Heinz Geiseler.

As a "Prussian Cadet", he was wounded as a 17 year old Leutnant, and leader of the 10.Kompanie, I.R.60.
On the attached photograph he is 19 years of age (April 1917)

Unless I missed something, I believe this to be the TRUTH that Manfred has so graciously shared with us.

Welcome back Herr Thiemeyer!
My dear friend, Jay:
Yes. it was certainly special for H Geiseler. However, I begin to wonder if the coordinated sweep really took place.
If Ferko is right, then why the KTB of these Jastas failed to mention this relevant event?
Who commanded such an important event in German Air history; the first Geschwader?
I think the Jastas did coordinate. This was logical for Jastas operating in the same sector, but they didn't formally operate as a single Geschwader as such.
IMHO
George
