I would appreciate any information on military career of Wilhelm Finke, born in 1891, and licensed as a pilot on January 6, 1918, license No. 7798.

Hello Cameldriver,

I don't know if I'm helping or confusing you.

In Casualties of the German Air Service I found a certain Wilhelm Finke, born in Bachawe and died on 29 Nov. 1918 in Halle.
The only problem is .....he was born on 24 Oct. 1889......

There was a Lt dR Finke who was a pilot in FA 13 in Flanders in 1918...in mid Oct 1918 he served a week within the stab of Kofl 4..

Could he be your man..?

According to his pilot's license, he was born in 1891 in Westphalia. I am hampered by my lack of German to come up with the specific date. Other than what is contained on this document, I have no other knowledge. He could have served in FA 13, but I don't know. I will continue to dig, and hope someone else out there may have some more information.
Thanks!

Cameldriver:

I assume it is written in Schrift, and that is what is causing you the problem. Is there any way you can post a pic ?? R.
