Who Shot Down The Red Baron?

Forgive me if this should be in the Film and Art section, but there is a showing tonight of a programme called "Who Shot Down the Red Baron" from the True Story series. (Showing on Channel5 in the United Kingdom.)

I am not sure if this has already been shown before or not, but the TV review did not indicate that this programme was a repeat. The show is presented by Alan Bennet I believe.

Must remember to tune in. Programme starts at 20:00 hours.

Unfortunately I recorded the wrong channel, due to being distracted by an elderly neighbour who needed some assistance with their garden. Akin to being blown over enemy lines with a following wind!

The last 5 minutes showed a film team firing lasers at a low flying aircraft(which looked like a Robin or Jodel), from different known positions of the ground gunners.

Last summing up statement seemed to be indicating that "Snowy" Evans was most likely as the gunner who shot him down. This is in contradiction to the earlier findings of Alan Bennet/Norman Franks in their book: "The Red Barons Last Flight", where they state it is most likely to have been Popkins.

I know, I know, we will never know for sure. Maybe someone else can comment who saw the entire programme?

That show used some pretty shaky science to "prove" a theory they already had decided upon.Keep a grain of salt handy when watching.

Is that the same computer animated theory show that was on PBS last summer? If so, I was disappointed when I watched it, as I'd been told that it had some Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome scenes in it, and that turned out to be wrong.

It showed here yesterday evening. The usual mixture of half "facts" half speculation and nothing really proven. Whatever the likelihood that this or that alternative scenario might be closer to what actually happened than any supposed "official" version, the one incontravertable "fact" is that Brown received the credit, whether rightfully his or no.

A very satisfying hours entertainment all round. I can report two things with absolute certainty.
1. The Red Baron got killed in the end.

2. I've been celibate since the programme was on. Pulling rank and making Mrs.G miss Corporation Street and Deadenders turned out to be as wise a move as The Von's was, chasing May at low level.
