Does anyone have details of Turenne's first confirmed claim in November 1916. It was for an Albatros but none of my sources indicates single or 2-seater. No corresponding German fighter pilots are reported lost for this date.

The Bailey and Cony book on the French Air Service list it as 17Nov16. They also list a possible crew from FFA 70, Ltn.d.R. Anton Mayer, P, and Ltn. Hans Lenhartz, O, both KIA at Jaulny. R.

Hello,

To be correct the French Air Service War Chronology lists S/Lt Havet as the possible victor of Mayer and Lenhartz.
The FASWC comes up with 8 claims that day. Five pilots are listed with possible victims.

1. Sgt. Madon - Fokker, possibly Wilhelm Schlolaut Jasta 9, KIA.
2. Adj. Tarascon - Aviatik, possibly Walter Andreae & Hans Renschenberg
KG5, KIA.
3. S/Lt Havet - EA, possibly Anton Mayer & Hans Lenhartz, FlAbt. 70, KIA.
4. Adj. Bucquet - 2 seater, possibly Karl Germer & Roland Müller, FlAbt.
(A) 266, KIA. U/C
5. Adj. Dorme - LVG, possible Arno Zimmermann, KIA & Oskar Kriegbaum,
WIA, FlAbt. 256 (A). U/C

The other 3 are:

* S/Lt. de Turenne - Albatross
* Adj. Bergot - EA
* Mdl. Brioude & S/Lt. Desquibes - EA

I checked Casualties Of The German Air Service and looked on 17 November 1917.

All the names of the victims are mentioned, except Kriegbaum WIA.

The others are:

1. Karl Krüger - Adlershof
2. Walther Kuhle (observer) - KG5 Ytres, Somme WIA, DOW in Berlin 19
Feb. 1917.
3. Günther Friedrichs (Pilot) - FA 216 (A) w Aizecourt Le Haut
4. Max Edler Arand von Ackerfeld (observer) - FA 216 (A) w Péronne le Haut

No other names are mentioned in the casuality list, so it could be that de Turenne downed Friedrichs & von Ackerfeld.

Greetings,

Jos

Hi all

Does anyone have the actual location of Turennes first victory..??

Vfw Zimmermann was actually flying together with Kuhle when they were brought down on an Aviatik after an combat with a Nieuport. It was reported that Kuhle was able to land the aircraft within German hold lines.
The fate of the aircraft is not mentioned (probably more or less damaged)...
They were both members of KG 5/27...
