While researching American aviator David Putman I see he flew with MS 156 in early 1918. Was this squadron actually flying Morane-Saulnier aircraft? The latest fighter that I am aware of that MS produced during the war was early 1917 and had a 160 hp rotary. Supposedly this was pulled from the front after only a few months because of structual failure.
Did Morane-Saulnier produce a fighter still flying in the first few months of 1918? If not, with what sort of a/c was MS 156 equipped?
Thanks

Sorry gents. I just found the answer to my own question. The Morane-Saulnier A1 entered service at the end of 1917 rather than the beginning. This is the aircraft MS 156 was flying. It was equipped with a 160 hp and later a 120 hp Le Rhone. Putman did quite well with it scoring his first 2-3 confirmed victories in this type a/c.
