My Grandfather was called Thomas Chambers and he came from Carrickfergus in Co. Antrim in Northern Ireland. He achieved the miltary medal for service during the WW1. Can anybody help me find some information about when and where etc he achieved this. Thank you.

You might want to try this website http://www.1914-1918.org/forum/index.php?act=idx It is based in GB and covers all areas, not just aviation.

Rois: Do you know which service (air force, navy, etc.) your grandfather was with?

Thanks a million for the replies We know he was in the British army - we have heard Royal Irish Rifles but we have also heard something about the Fusiliers. I am going to check out this website and maybe something will come up there. We do know that he had received the military medal but it has gone missing - it was given to one of his sons and then it wa supposed to put in a medal collection somewhere in N Ireland and then we were told it was transfeered to a display place in England. I don't knowthe proper names of anywhere they display medals - it would be nice too to see what it looks like too.

Thanks again
