THE ILLUSTRATED LONDON NEWS - Brinsmead

G'day All,

I am after a photo of Flt Sub Lieut. Cecil Horace Brinsmead and I am told he was on the front cover of the Illustrated London News in Feb 1916 (the 5th I think). I am desperately seeking a photo of him so if anyone has this mag would it be possible for you to scan it and email it to me.

I would be interested if it had his obituary as well and if a copy could be made of that also.

Regards,

Andrew

Hello Andrew;
Here is the photo. (You had the correct date and issue-which certainly helped!)
This is scanned at 150dpi and is 37kb. While I had the volume spread on the scanner-I also scanned it at 300 dpi/130kb and 600dpi/397kb. If you send me your email, I can email you these scans and you can make copies and play with them in photoshop or other photo editing program..
I shall look through the issue to see if the obit is in same issue. Sometimes the photo and the obit appeared several issue apart. Sometimes no obit at all.

While looking through this issue. I note his photo is NOT on the cover but on page 185. (Feb 5 edition runs from page 161-193 with addl. cover/advertising pages in front and back) -P.185 has a full page of 20 evenly spaced photos (four across and five rows down) titled "For King and County: Officers On the Roll of Honour." which was a regular feature (of deceased or missing-believed killed) of Illustrated London News, throughout the war. I don't see any other fliers listed in this grouping. Officers are listed with their Units mentioned.

Thanks Joe,

Its nice to put a face to the name. Steve Drew and I have been researching these blokes for about 5 years now, and Brinsmead was one of the more elusive ones.

Regards,

Andrew.

Andrew; Can you send me that specific email address in a PM via this forum? I went to your personal profile and I just saw the
"send a message via email" link. but it does not indicate which email address it will go to.
Do you wish me to send the two larger resolution scans, also?
