153 - Max Näther
Max Näther is credited with 26 victories with Jasta 62. I have the basic information I need. He was shot down by ground fire at Kolmar/Westpreußen. Does anyone know the type of plane he was flying, and its serial number? I hadn’t realized that the civil war had extended this far west. There must be a story behind this.

154 - Alfons Nagler
Alfons Nagler is credited with 10 victories with Jasta 74 and 81. I have no information on his date and place of death. I have his date of birth as September 4, 1893 in Ertingen, but with a note that it might have been August 4, 1893. Which is correct?

155 - Johann Neumaier
Johann Neumaier is credited with 4 victories with Jasta 16. I have no information on his date or place of death.

156 - Alfred Niemz
Alfred Niemz is credited with 4 victories with Schusta 2, Schlasta 8 and Jasta 11. He died on December 17, 1980, but I have no other information on his date and place of birth, or his place of death.

157 - Werner Niethammer
Werner Niethammer is credited with 5 victories with Jasta 13. I have no information on his date and place of birth or death, other than he might have died in 1946.

158 - Ernst Noerthen
Ernst Noerthen is credited with 4 victories with Schusta 10. I have no information about his date and place of birth or death.

159 - Hans Nülle
Hans Nülle is credited with 11 victories with Jasta 39. I have no information on his date or place of death. I also have a note that his first name might have been Franz. Can anyone verify his full name?

160 - Albrecht Otto Bismarck Ochs
Albrecht Ochs is credited with 1 victory with Bogohl 7/22 in World War 1, and 4 (or 5) victories in World War 2. I am lacking only his place of birth.

161 - Rudolf Otto
Rudolf Otto is credited with 5 victories with Ober Ost, Jasta 74 and 68. I have no information on his date and place of birth, nor his place of death; he died September 4, 1944 (does anyone know the circumstances?).

162 - Ernst Pabst
Ernst Pabst is credited with 4 victories with Jasta 22 and 51. I have no information on his date and place of death.

163 - Franz Piechulek
Franz Piechulek is credited with 14 victories with Kest 5, Jasta 41 and 56. I have no information on his date and place of death, other than he might have died in Münster in 1985.

164 - Friedrich Poeschke
Friedrich Poeschke is credited with 8 victories with Jasta 53. I have no information on his date and place of birth or death.

165 - Werner Preuss
Werner Preuss is credited with 22 victories with Jasta 66. He was killed in a flying accident, a training flight, on March 6, 1919. Does anyone know the type of aircraft and its serial or registration number?

166 - Johann Pütz
Johann Pütz is credited with 7 victories with Jasta 23 and 34. I have no information on his date and place of death.

Once again I hope someone has answers to these questions.

Frank.

Näther

Frank,

these fights were not part of the German Civil War but part of the combats between the Germans and Poles (1919, 1920, and 1921 again). The latter tried to use the weakness of the Reich to enlarge their new Polish republic.

Hans Brzenk (who reported not always reliable) dedicated a little chapter in his book "Im Kampf wider Kokarde und weißen Adler" to Näthers death but reports more about his own activities.

Brzenk reports Näther was hit in the head and crashed with his Fokker (possibly D. VII) when he attacked the Poles in Kolmar.

I think I have seen a more reliable and detailed report in another book but can not remember the title.

VBR
