Paul Dietze

Hello,

Paul Dietze served with FFA 24 and later AFA 201, became leader of KS 41, leader of FA (A) 255 and commanded FEA 6.

I am searching for the date and place of his death.

TIA.

VBR

Hello Hannes

I am sorry I cant help you with the date and place of his death...

On the other hand, I am interested if you knew the aproximate dates when he was in command of FAA 255s and FEA 6s...?

I only knew that he was in command of FAA 255s in the autumn of 1917...

My source - a paper report refering to his 50th birthday in 1934 - says he took over FA (A) 255 s in December 1916 and did lead the unit until end October 1918. Then he took over FEA 6 a short time before 11.11.1918.
Don´t know when he left to become Kommandeur der Kraftfahrtruppe in the 2. Grenzjägerbrigade in 1919.

Thorsten,

Dietze was born on 9 June 1884 in Leipzig.

By the way his interest in aviation was caused when he did observe British aviators during shows in Bourne-Mooth (sp?) ca 1909 or 1910 (?).

Can anybody tell me something about this location or the flights/tests there?

VBR

Could that be a misspelling of Bournemouth in England?

Bournemouth

You could be right, Cicogne!

I hope one of our English forumites can tell us more about flights over Bournemouth in prewar times.
