Georg von Tschudi

Hi all

I am also interested in information (any kind) on the German flyer Georg von Tschudi...

I only knew that he was commander of FEA 7 in Cöln in the period 1915 to 1917....I even dont have his rank...

I also knew that he in late 1920s wrote an article (which I dont have) about the "history" of the German aviation...

Can anyone help me with added information...?

I can only add that at the EOW he was in charge of the Flugzeug Depot at Antwerp and was a Major. Source: the Ehrenrangliste. R.

Georg von Tschudi was the pre-war director of the airfield Johannisthal near
Berlin. I think I have his book anywhere in my shelves - sadly, this book did only touch very short his war activities.

Hello,

the book's name is "Aus 34 Jahren Luftfahrt" Verlag von Reimar Hobbing, Berlin, 1928.

Georg von Tschudi died on 8 Oct 1928.

Some info about v. Tschudi and Johannisthal (in German):

Von Tschudi reported he became responsibel for the distribution of airplanes to front units. As well he had to organise a transport of planes to Austria early in the war. Later the Marineflugwesen intended to get him for the organisation of replacement for personnel and material but the plea was refused by the Army and he was ordered to the Flugzeugdepot Antwerpen (in fact he did create the depot) together with an officer Dr. Hoff (a man later well-known in the development of German aviation). In spring 1915 the Flugzeugdepot Antwerpen became Flight Park of the Armee Gallwitz, at first in Deutsch-Eylau, later in Bialystok, then Grodno ...
In Winter 1915/16 von Tschudi became CO of FEA 7 Köln, which later was moved to Braunschweig. Tschudi was asked by the Aero-Club Germany to become the CEO and he agreed and left military service.

That reports von Tschudi himself in the above mentioned book.
I remember he was called a Hauptmann in pre-war times.

Thanks all (especially Hannes for excellent information)...

Now it seems rather clear for me... ...AFP Gallwitz was later in Aug 15 renamed to AFP 12.
I have that they later in 1916 was situated in Lida in White Russia...

AFP 12 was later renamed to new AFP 14 (Italy) in Sep 1917, before it lastly was renamed to AFP 17 in early 1918.....puh...!

Now it is only to find what Georg von Tschudi was doing in 1918 after leaving his command of FEA 7....
