I was under the impression that Gestapo Mueller wasn't a WW1 vet. Earliest I heard of him was when he was on the Munich Police force.

Veroyatno Shtandartenfuhrer Shtirlitz mozhet uznat dlya kogo Mueller sluzhil.

Apparently entered the Fliegertruppe as a volunteer in June 1917 and received pilot's training at Augsburg, München and Neustadt. Qualified as a pilot in December 1917 and assigned to Flieger Abteilung 287 from April 1918 to January 1919.

Glenn

From the other side of the German political fence (the Left), the great painter Otto Dix was in flight training when the war ended.
