Hi,
I asked this question a few months back about an autographed Snake 606 card that I had just found. The best answer came from Greg VanWyngarden which I copy below.
With regards,
Bob Gardner
This is the well-known Sanke card 606, one of at least two photos taken on this occasion. The late Ed Ferko identified the personnel , from left to right:
Ltn.
Siegfried Gussmann, Ltn Schubert, Ltn
Hans-Georg von der Osten, Ltn. Werner Steinhäuser, MvR, Ltn. Esser, Ltn. Friedrich-Wilhelm "Fritz" Lübbert, Oblt.
Hans-Helmut von Boddien, Ltn. Hans Karl von Linsingen, Ltn.
Eberhard Mohnike (Mohnicke), and Scholz.
"Ltn. Schubert" is, I think, the somewhat shadowy Feldwebel Leutnant Fritz Schubert who is thought to have joined Jasta 6 around March 1917; he is described as 30 years old in March 1918. On 25 August 1918, he assumed the position of JG I adjutant when Bodenschatz was on leave. On 6 September 1918, he was ordered to the staff of the Geschwader as technical officer. He was apparently promoted to Leutnant d. Landwehr on 10 October 1918; he was credited with 3 victories in Jasta 6. However, I wonder if he wasn't serving on the Staff of JG I in some capacity, at least temporarily, much earlier - or else, why would he be in this photo of "Jasta 11" ? Did he just like to sneak in on photo ops? He certainly shows up in a lot of photos which generally show the bigwigs of JG I.
The "Scholz" is Vzfw
Edgar Scholz, who achieved 6 victories and was killed in the crash of his Dr.I 591/17 0n 2 May 1918.
Hope that helps.
