Np Bluedevil, nice to see some more Belgians here!

Well yes I was also wondering if that's true (Jan being "friends" with Richthofen, Göring before the war), well it was certainly said during the documentary!

But no doubt Göring and Richthofen already had interest in aviation, otherwise they would not have become fighter pilots in the first place... Probably they met Olieslagers and perhaps they made a nice chat, don't forget that Olieslaegers was, at that time... one of the most popular men in Western Europe! He did meet many, many people, so I believe that he, at least, met and spoke to Richthofen & Göring

Hi!

Notice that Jan before he became an aviator he collected already fame as cyclist and motorcyclist and f.e. as motorcyclist he participated in Germany to contests at several locations....!
So it's possible he did meet eventually MVR or such ?
But peronally I don't have an idea if he met indeed MvR or Goering...
Let's that over to real historians...if told so, thee must be some source for!

Indeed, He was already very famous before 1910 ... He also was in Germany, and it is possible that he met approach from respectable families there (like the Von Richthofen family)

Damned I missed that too. J. Olieslagers had indeed worldrecords for motorcyclism before the war but I don't understand how he could have meet Goering or MvR ?

As I said, he was approached by many, many highly placed figures... wasn't the father of MvR a Prussian officer?

Nothing's for sure though, but it might have happened!
And I truly believe that Richthofen and Göring ALREADY had an interest in aviation before the war, otherwise they would not have become pilots in the first place.

Avec mes salutations distinguées
