Seems we have this discussion once a year. Do a 'search' for umlaut, and you will find a thread relating to something like 'how's my German'. There are detailed steps presented therein that will explain how to type umlauts. Example. Be sure NUM LOCK is ON. Use the keypad (right hand side where the numers are). Hold down the ALT key, and using the keypad type a three number combination, then release the ALT key. You should see:
132 = ä
148 = ö
129 = ü

Rick- Had no idea. Of course, the odds of me remembering those numbers are slim, so better write them down.

Umlaut

You can try this:

Shift " and o = ö

Shift " and u = ü

Etcetera.

Hello Clarasdad and welcome......

If you are interested, the June 2005 issue of r/c Modeler Magazine, or RCM for short, has what is purported to be Löwenhardt's D-VII on the front cover. The photo is a 1/4 scale flying model in flight. A Windsock data file (number not given) is cited as the color reference.

The model has a yellow fuselage and undercarriage, with no wheel covers. The spokes and wheel rims are also yellow. The vertical stabilizer is yellow up to the forwardmost station of the rudder balance tab, and white thereafter. The rudder is white. Wings, both upper and lower surfaces, appear to be a light 5-color lozenge pattern. The lightness of the lozenge color may be off, as the preprinted fabric covering used tends to be translucent.

By the way, it isn't necessary to remember any special character numbers to create a bunch of umlauted vowels. Just call up the character map for 'arial', choose whichever umlauted vowel you want, and select it. Then hit 'copy'. Return to your Aerodrome post and hit 'edit-Paste' and öff yöu gö!

I will look for that RCM, that sounds wonderful! that is pretty much what i thought his DVII would look like... thank you for the reference!

Also, thanks everyone for the discussion on "umlauts". i'll have to print out that text, since i know i will never remember it by heart...
