Friedrich Christiansen, Gotthard Sachsenberg, Theodor Osterkamp, and Horst Freiherr Teusch von Buttlar-Brandenfels the Zeppelin commander were the only naval aviators that were holders of the Pour le Merite. Can you think of any German naval aviators that were recommended for one but was never approved? The German Army Air Service certainly outnumbered big time as for holders of the Pour le Merite.

Hi,
Don't forget about Fregattenkapitän Peter Strasser ! Alexander Zenses was very close, and I think he was about the only one which might have made a chance.
