My great uncle numbered among them, but does anyone know the stats of USAS KIA in WWI in total? WIA?? Pursuit only?? And how many USAS airmen of all stripes actually saw combat?? Thanks.

Get hold of a copy of the book Wings of Honor by James J. Sloan, that will answer most of your questions regarding USAS pilots & observers. It may not cover the 'other ranks' however. R.

IIRC a rough figure is 600 but that may include KIFAs.

I have a poor photo of a crash captioned, "Cadet Ortmayer's USAS".
Training field smash. No other details. Looks like Avro or Sopwith two seater.Too much damage, no serial visible. Only white triangle behind roundell.
