Konstantin Krefft... in AFA

Hi,

there are a couple of images of a Artillerie-Flieger-Abteilung on ebay.de now (No 6217168342 ) and I tend to identify one man as Konstantin Krefft (picture of the groupe, second from left).

Was Krefft ever a member of a AFA? I always thought he came from FA 18 to the Jasta 11, didn't he?

Hi Thorsten

I dont think that Krefft ever was a member of any AFA. Instead he did join FFA 5b (Bavarian) already on 26 Feb 15. He stayed within this unit until 12 Oct 16 (except for a short break) when he was posted to Jasta 11...

It is possible that FFA 5b did use artillery a/c during his service there. It is also a possibility that Reinhard etc do have some hints about the markings of this unit...??

Just a comment. I believe Krefft scored two quick victories with Jasta 11 in March/April of 1917. Is it possible that his value as an administrative officer outweighed his possible value as a potentially high scoring scout pilot ??? Would he have had a choice in the matter ???
