Question Jasta 11 CO Göring

Hello Friends!!
Someone recognize the personnel of Jasta 11 in the picture?
Maybe some other relative fact to that photo?
The date, place or any comment.
Grateful of his contribution.
Dario

It's Jasta 26

Hi,

Sorry to disappoint you, Dario, but it's not Jasta 11 at all. It shows Goering when he was still CO of Jasta 27, visiting his old unit (and "sister Staffel" within Jagdgeschwader III) Jasta 26. The current commander of Jasta 26, Fritz Loerzer, is seen 6th from left with the open-collar overcoat. The Fokker Dr.I in the background is Otto Esswein's of Jasta 26; you can see his black "E" initial on a white panel on the top wing center section.

I believe the photo was taken circa May 1918, when official Kogenluft photographers paid a visit to JG III at Halluin-Ost aerodrome. I believe someone has identified all of the Jasta 26 pilots in the photo, but I don't have access to that info right now.

By the way, Goering was never CO of Jasta 11. He was the final commander of Jagdgeschwader I (Jagdstaffeln 4,6,10 and 11), but never of Jasta 11 alone.

Right you are Greg. BTW, not to start a scrap here, but Jasta 11's confirmation criteria might have been too tough for Göring!

Big error!!

Friend Greg.
Extraordinary his comment!!
I am very happy of clarifying such a big error!!
For that reason I like this forum, I feel very happy of sharing here with all!!!
You have taken me out of a great identification error!!
Excellent the reference to that Göring was CO of JG1, and not of Jasta 11.
I really thank the explanatory one.
Grateful.
Dario
