Question Jacobs vs. Nungesser

Hello friends,
I've read somewehere that Josef Jacobs fought many times against Charles Nungesser in 1917, who was identified by black heart on his fuselage. But both of them were so good that no one could hit each other. Is it possible? Does anybode know?
