Murder of Hantelmann

I've asked this before, but since I didn't get any answer, I am now trying again

Is there anyone who has got more info/details about the day he was murdered by "Polish poachers" ? Very little seems to be know about this man

It is doubtfull you'll ever get an answer, but is always worth a try.
there were serious tensions between Germany and Poland during the entire interbellum and since the Soviet Army completely erased Prussia from the world map in 1945, it's not likely any records about the murder of Hantelmann survived

Ja dat klopt wel, maar als er geweten is dat hij door Poolse stropers vermoord werd, vermoed ik toch wel dat er meer over te ontdekken valt

Hey jongens, laten we het wel Engels houden

Otherwise the Administrator might get mad

Is it known where he was murdered? Local police records might have survived.

Hi,

he was killed in Charcice (24 Sep 1924) which is to be found west of Poznan (formerly: Posen) in West-Prussia [not East-Pr. as written in "Above the Lines - quoting this book: "After surviving the war, he was murdered by Polish poachers on his estate..."].

Many of the "incidents" involving Polish attacks on Germans, especially in the Corridor, have been dismissed as propaganda. However, these things did happen, as my family witnessed this sort of behaviour firsthand whilst travelling from their home in East Prussia to visit family in Berlin. BTW Prussia as a legal entity was stricken from the map unilaterally by the Soviet Union in 1947.

What interests me is the reason (or just coincidence?) behind it and the way he was murdered always interesting research, in my opinion

Hi

As we say in German: "Treffen sich zwei Jäger - beide tot!"
==> two hunters meet/ hit each other - both dead!

I guess von Hantelmann was hunting and met these both guys and one of them was faster than he was...

The "other guy" must've been Billy Bishop.
