Vikinn

Weren t there any losses at the northeastern front in 1914, or 1915?

Rammjager

do you have positions of units like FFA7/37, FFA14 FFA15 FFA17 in 1914/1915?

Thanks

No precise info for 1915.
FFA 15 and 17 as mentioned earlier in this thread.

FFA 14:
23. August 1914 in Königsberg (I. Armeekorps) against Russian 1. (Njemen) Army.
25. August transfer to Deutsch-Eylau, reconnaissance in direction of Soldau-Mlawa and streets from and to Mlawa
31. August airfield in Osterode

FestFA 7/FA 37:
23. August 1914 in Allenstein, with 3. Reservedivision, against Russian 2. (Narew) Army, only 2 airplanes available
31. August Deutsch-Eylau, with I. Reservekorps since 1. September

11. November to Thorn with 5 airplanes, 14. November ready for action in the new sector.

Jeroen, I found a little bit of information for FFA 15.

The unit used an airfield Borken near Johannisburg (East Prussia) in March 1915.
As well an airfield Korzeniste is mentioned for FFA 15 (no date given).
As well the unit must have been on airfield Angerburg for some time.
Later the airfield Janow-Wlozcowa is mentioned (again no date available).
In Winter 1915/16 the unit occupied the airfield Udziany, 60 km west of Dünaburg (at least the source book says that).
As well in 1916 the unit was based on airfield Oknisty.

An album by Leutnant Lühr (FFA 37) with photographs and aerial views of Riga is stored in the Ferko Collection at the University in Dallas/Texas but I did never see the material.

Sadly, the most of the German files with information burned in WWI in Berlin and the rest is sprayed all over the world. That makes all searches to huge puzzles.

Thanks a lot Rammjaeger!

I quick look in my records I did find a place called Udzena north of Dunaberg (where from soviet time was constucted an An2 airstrip), but that does not correspond with the frontline? But I wil try to find those places and report to you.

Oknisty I have found, today its called Akniste, NW of Dunaburg, by the way there is also a former soviet an2 biplane airstrip, NE of the village.
