Janow is giving more problems. I have a Janova north of Dunaburg and Janova in NE of Latvia near russian border, but I doubt that FFA 15 was there.

Ok about the airfields.
Borki near Pisz (6km SE)is easy to find, also Wegorzewo(angerburg), the airfield near Janow could have been between Augustow and Bialystok, east of Pisz.
Korzeniste is more of a problem.
Do you have locations for those units in 1917 also Rammjaeger?

Vikinn and Rammjaeger

Do you have any german losses over Lithuania and Latvia, or neighbouring Russia?

Jeroen,

do you have "Casualties of the German Air Service Service", Grub Street, or any other basic source for losses?

I can not do the major work to extract all the relevant losses from these and other sources - it is simply more work than I can do for others because I have currently enough stress with the deadlines of my own projects ( and Aviation is only my hobby and a part of a whole difficult life).

If your request is not so urgent then I can look later for more info - but my sources and knowledge about the events on the Western front is far better than the my sources and knowlege about the Eastern front.

The latter theatre of war is widely unknown until now and it is still a lot of pioneer work necessary. Maybe there are some Russian works available about this front: Я не энаю.

Losses German Aviation

i can only agree with Rammjaeger that these are not questions with simple answers. i have spent almost 40 years researching the aviation on the Russian and Romanian fronts. sadly massive holes in the German information. like Rammjaeger i also have time constraints preparing two books on these subjects and creating a website dedicated to Russia in World War I. plus health and other issues that continually delay projects. as for geographical locations i would suggest visiting www.warchron.com and checking the newly updated Map section which is now available. there will be more to come with regard to maps of these eastern areas. modern day maps are totally useless as so many name changes have taken place. simple questions are not simple at all. they involve far deeper examination to prepare answers, if any are to be found and shared. best of luck with your future researches. please visit warchron for future answers. best wishes, august

Thanks anyway August and Rammjaeger.
I am pretty sure I will research those events for the years to come, and every one has his own projects running, so nice to read so much good people are having same interests. I am interested in western front, but feel more gaps exist fot the eastern front coverage, there is no hurry, only not much local peolpe live there who can tell exactly where airfields were, but for archives they become more accessible.Keep up the good work!
