Paul Strahle

I am trying to determine if Paul Strahle of Jasta 57 specifically, and Jasta 57 in general, may have ever been engaged with a British SE-5 group in late summer 1918? Strahle's victories during August 1918 indicate otherwise (1-Spad, 2-Camel's), but I find it hard to believe that Jasta 57 did not cross paths with SE-5's in their area of operation during this time. Can anyone confirm this?

While trying to research this, I used what documentation I had, including Above the Lines and Above the Trenches, but I also found a map in Revell's High in the Empty Blue very useful. The map (page 334) describes the disposition of German and British aircraft units during the Somme Offensive of March 1918. While the date is too early to be useful wrt my question above, I wonder if there are any other maps like this which may describe squadron placement for other (or later) months in the war?
Thanks,
Chuck

Hi Chuck,
I'm in the middle of a move, so most of my books are still in boxes, so I can't look for you at the moment. One way of checking would be to go through The Sky Their Battlefield for the dates in question - it gives blow by blow most of what happened every day. You could also go through the RAF Communiques. Online, working through Miles Constable's excellent site would let you know what British squadrons were in the area at the time....
