Capt. T.W. Mulcahy-Morgan N° 6 Sqn. RFC
Hi all, can anyone help me by finding more on Capt. T. W. Mulcahy-Morgan, N° 6 Sqn RFC, who crashed his BE2c-1680 in Ooigem (Belgium) on Sept. 13, 1915. It was the first attempt to drop a spy behind enemy lines. WIA he was taken POW but escaped to UK on April 9 1917.
(from T. Henshaw 'The sky ...', page 49)
Thanks in advance!

Captain Thomas Westropp Mulcahy-Morgan RFC (formerly Royal Irish Fusiliers) was awarded the Military Cross, Gazetted on 8 August 1917. Can this be correct:
Quote:

Wing Comdr. Thomas Westropp MULCAHY-MORGAN, M.C. (317537), R.A.F. (ret.), to be 2nd Lt., 8th Aug. 1943.

What service would you ask of a retired Wing Commander that would assign him as a 2nd Lt.?
If it is correct, you have to admire his lack of ego and willingness to serve his country in any capacity.

Another snippet - as a Lieutenant, Mulcahy-Morgan was one of the Flying Officers that went to France with No 4 Squadron RFC in August 1914.
