Sticking my neck out here

As I believe I was told, Ball was buried by the Germans and his father chose to leave him in the German cemetary where a unique memorial could be placed, because if he was moved to the British cemetary, Ball would have had the standard memorial.

The Germans leave a few copies of their Grave preservation Bund magazine, I picked up a few copies of that there, rather interesting.

Visiting the crash site, there was only one marker to be seen.

It's not quite that, Mike. If the field was in Victoria, I'd ring up the local shire, obtain the address or title particulars, do an historical title search online and have the answer within a few minutes for less than $25.00. Regretfully, M Mequignon has neither, or not yet, posted on the Annoeuillon forum nor responded to my last request for a rates book search. Your tips have been helpful, I'll pm Scarlett. She hasn't visited since mid July and won't accept emails.

Here's a distance photo of the marker in the field. Taken from the road side.
Where the other marker stood I don't know.
