The Weir Cook Project & A Call To Honor,Inc.

Last Sat. we had our first fund raiser, to raise funds for the sole purpose of a public & children museum on military history & the home for Col. H. Weir Cook. Bringing awareness to the problem of people forgetting our past & heroes.

All went very well except for our local paper giving the wrong date,go figure!

During the 6 hours I spent talking about what were going to do with the building & how we will help teach & show the children. I kept getting this same question....Why & What do you get out of this?
Some of you may as researchers or just the love of military history may have experienced this question too I'm sure.
I just want to share an example that has just happened this week. That answers this question for me & the people who ask me this.

Years ago a man went to the son of an ACE & asked to BORROW some pictures so on. This son saying ok but bring them back. Well the man never did & the family had no ideal because their loved one died 6 years ago. Till one day I found the man who had them. I must of got to him about my museum being a loaner not a taker that he'd offered to give them to me to be returned to the family. This Sunday I will meet w/the family to return the documents that had been lost for years!

This is what keeps me going. The satisfaction of keeping these men off the "Forgotten List"! And helping in the research of history, where I can.

Hats off to this man for doing the right thing! Better later then never! One down & one to go and he's a bigger fish in the pool!

Fello researcher,
JC
