Exclamation Jasta 11, August 1917

Could some of you carry out some comment about the facts recreated in the very good painting, of Robert Karr?

"August, 1917, Raymond Collishaw leads the Sopwith Triplanes of Naval 10 in a dogfight against the Albatrosses of Jagdstaffel 11. The German fighter in the upper left was flown by Carlos Meyer Baldo, the only Venezuelan in the German Air Force! The particular Sopwith Triplane shown here was a rare late version with twin guns rather than the usual single gun."

Any comment is welcome.
Dario

Hello Dario,

I think Robert probably used your own research for the colors of our friend Meyer's Albatros D V. Robert will probably jump in here himself before too long.

It's one terrific painting!! That's my main comment.

Yep- see:
http://www.fav-club.com/articulos/hi...meyerbaldo.htm
Plus the usual assortment of things to help glue it all together, such as Greg's vonRichthofen's Flying Circus tome from Albatros Productions. ( and thanks for the good word Greg!). Bits and pieces of the composition were derived from an article in C&C Int that described a locale and time when Meyer and Collishaw could've met.
If I lean over to the left, at an angle just shy of causing me to fall out of my chair here as I type, I can see the original hanging on the wall in the next room.

Violet or lilac/mauve?

Gentlemen:
The violet camouflage, I don't think is correct. It is more in the direction of a greyed lilac/mauve. I have a bullet hole patch on a piece of 4 color Fok. D.VII(OAW)4490/18 fabric, it is greyed lilac/mauve. It is the lighter color in the photographs of Alb.D.V and D.Va aircraft.
Blue skies,

Thanks!!

Grateful to Greg, Robert and Dan San for his thread in this post.
Robert, I am sure in Venezuela a lot of people would be proud of having his work on Meyer.
It is a beautiful recreation based on a perfectly feasible fact, besides being an excellent and very professional very pleasant work to the look.
Thanks you to allow us to delight with his talent.
Dario
