What is distinctly strange is that Kurt Wolff had just visited Pionierkompanie 89 at Pionierpark Nachtigal only a day or two earlier. He then crashed in the same location.
Wolff was struck fatally at altitude and the aircraft struck the ground out of control. MacGregor did not even claim a destroyed, just an OOC, because he had fired only a few rounds at very close range and then swerved to avoid collision. He saw the Triplane descending in a very steep dive, seemingly out of control, which it undoubtedly was. No mention of fire, parts coming off or anything else.
The burned reference comes from Bodenschatz' JG I diary, which he undoubtedly confused with another aircraft.
