Talking New information Mvr

Hi folks,

Don't know how old this info is, but stumbled across it today and it was news to me.

Quote:
There is also some research being done in Germany on some personal items of Manfred’s that have been discovered. The articles have been damaged by water and fire. The researchers believe that the Nazis were responsible for burning the items. It was pure luck and probably climate that made the fire not completely burn the items. Among the items were a Tri-Fokker airplane, and several crates of items that had photos, film photo footage, and some of the journals, which are being repaired. This is not commonly known information. Also the persons who helped them find the items requested that certain American and British historians not be allowed to work on the project. The fact that the Nazis would burn personal information about Manfred von Richthofen gives a very strong impression that they did not believe that they could use a man like him. Some of Oswald Boelcke’s possessions were also reported to be among the items too. Also Manfred von Richthofen was a very close friend of Werner Voss and his family, the Voss family were practicing Lutherans, but there was a portion of the family that was Jewish. That also does not follow Nazi party ideaology. Manfred von Richthofen held that friendship and loyalty as very important to him. He would not simply abandon good people for a military promotion.- Birgitte Heuschkel

Hi,

where did you find this text? It sounds rather un-believable to me... Richthofen items burned by Nazi (when/where/WHY?)...

Tom- This sounds like a set-up for unaware collectors. Hence the non-participation of American and British collectors who might be able to spot a forgery and report it. I hope I am wrong because it would be nice to see some new photgraphs pop out.

A vendor at one of the Dayton fly-ins tried to get Alan Toelle thrown out when he told him a piece of MvR fabric was a fake. The guy had a buyer for the piece at $2000 or so who took a hike when Alan and Dan-San said "no way".

Hi Taz,

I am still/hopefully conviced that the Richthofen-Museum is somewhere, either in Russian Archives or Polish attics. ... one story: in the 1830's the Duke of Braunschweig/Brunsiek was thrown out of his housing (Schloss) and forced to leave the country... the citizens looted the house and set it afire. And (that's why I write this story) even in 2007 (more than 170 years later) old-Brunswiek families still have 'their' part of the Duke's belongings, some glases, some chairs.... Perhaps it is the same with the Richthofen Museum's items (hopefully).

Thorsten- I hope you are right. It would be nice to have the museum available again for research.

Just saw your new book ad and sent you an e-mail asking for an autographed copy.

Why Taz, You're Skeptical?

Taz, this is sooooooooooooo unlike you. But since we're pals and I have a connection in Berlin I can get you in on the bottom floor of "Richtofer's Relics" specializing in slightly singed personal effects of the great WWI aviators.

Why if you name it, I bet my source could locate it. I mean you missed out last year when I offered you the chance to go in with me on the Disney character pre-teen maternity clothes. Don't let this golden opportunity pass you by!
