Rare photos of Guynemer

Hi, everyone!

I was nosing around on the internet and I came across a wonder group of images of Georges Guynemer! Many of these I had never seen before. Most are head shots. They look like out-takes from a PR photo session while Guynemer was recouperating from a wound.

They can be found at the French Ministry of Culture site:

Ministčre de la culture - memoire

Enjoy!

Tom

I tried the second link, it worked fine. Thanks for posting the link! These pictures are from better times before his combat fatigue inexorably drew him towards death´s door. He´s smiling in a few of them.

Kind regards,

Reinout

Hello

Many thanks for your thread
These photos are negatives from a very well known French photograh
whose name was NADAR-Legend of some guynemer pics is in French
"bras en écharpe" which means in English i think,"arm in a sling"
at a moment when Gyunemer was certainly convalescent.
Others aviators can be seen too like Roland garros.

Cordialement
BRUNO

Now don't go getting some of us iggerant yokels all excited.
At first blush (!) it looks like lingerie is being discussed!

Amazing photos! What a difference there is between this Guynemer and the later man aged by war. He looks so very young!

Thank you for the link!

FliegerJG1,

I agree he does look young. I have always thought he seems to look so melancholy in most of his pictures. Have you noticed?

Thanks for the post Tom.

Phil
