Hello Tom

Are you sure that The French Lafayette was N°96?
I think it was N24 and later Spa 124
I look after Joseph De Kergolay in my documentation
this evening when at home

Cordialement

Mate,
to the best of my knowledge it was No. 96, a French unit, that Joseph De Kergolay belonged to.

any info would be greatly appreciated.

To my knowledge, the French Lafayette Escadrille was Nieuport 124 , (N 124) It had 2 French officers and the rest were American volunteers, however I am not an authority on this. A list of members is on one of the Lafayette Escadrille websites.

Regards,

Albert de Kergorlay was a member of escadrille N 96, He was born on 31 May 1894, and was a curassier in the French army when the war broke out. He was accepted for pilot-training in 1916 and his first assigment was with escadrille C 18 from 2 September 1916 until early November 1917. Was with N 96 from 2 December 1917.

He is not named Joseph in any of the documents I have seen.

Dear Tom,

I found the information on the French web-site memoiredeshommes.
If you search under the headline aviators 1914-18, and type in his last name, please note the correct spelling of same, you get access to information.
Please note: these are not his complete service records, these are NOT available on-line.
He is not listed among the war dead, so I guess he survived the war. I do not have a photo of him, but this might be available from the French SHAA.

By the way, I have always been curious about the "cul" you end your posts with, what does it mean?
