Manfred von Richthofen's camera
Mates,
Anyone have an idea as to what type of camera Manfred von Richthofen used on the day he visited Krefeld and took the snaps of Voss and his family standing in front of MvR' personel transport?????
And what ever happened to it after he was shot down???

That may not have been his camera. Maybe a friend of the Voss family?

Well, he could have had a camera. Some years ago, an article was written by Sue Fisher (translator of Mother von Richthofen's memoirs) on her visit to the Richthofen home. One of the residents reported that a pile of old photo albums had been found in the stable sometime around 1955 by children playing there. The pictures were of soldiers and old airplanes. The albums disappeared before anyone else could inspect them. So who knows? Another MvR mystery.

Mates,
The latest info that I have found is that both Manfred and Werner were avid photographers and from what I have read so far, indicates to me that he had his own.
Just my thoughts compliles from the works of others that know more about it than me.
It still brings up a point: What type of camer's did aircrew members use (i.e. Karl Bodenschatz, Werner Voss, Fritz Kempf, Guido Scheffer, Joseph Dörflinger, Manfred von Richthofen, etc.)

What kind of camera
A possible clue as to type of camera might be found in a well known photo of Manfred and his family taken in late 1917. This is the photo of all the Richthofens gathered around the seated Albrecht in the garden. Manfred is standing on the far left and his sister, Ilse, is holding a small black box camera.

Mates,
Does anyone know what year and type of Box camera that Ilsa von Richthofen used? It is a family picture from the Barrones Book - My War Book.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Tom
if you have a copy of the photo why not take it to an antique camera expert, they are more likely to identify it for you....
cheers
