Phoenix Squadron

May I add my voice to implore someone to get the story of Phoenix Squadron - 56 Squadron - High in the Empty Blue by Alex Revell reprinted before the research and facts get obliterated by time!

Alex you must have interviewed Billy Crowe in circa 1969.

Thanks both of you for your offers, but it's not as simple as that. Although the text etc is my copyright, the layout of the book was owned by Flying Machines Press. FMP sold it to someone else - the name escapes me for the moment. Jack Herris of FMP gave me the name of these people a little while ago now and I emailed them about a possibe reprint but had no reply.
Alex, not sure what you mean by layout, but if you need the book re-layed out, my brother does that sort of stuff. Not sure of the legality issues of that, but if you need someone to recreate the book with your text, different layout, let me know.

It's not hard. Let me know if you're interested.

Alex- The text and all of the images are yours. If you decided to reprint HITEB, I would gladly provide more photos, especially of F.I 103/17, for you to use. Would the artists let you use the cover paintings and color illustrations again? They own the copyrights. We have friends who could redo the color drawings at a very reasonable cost or for free if need be.

Your book was too well done for people not to be able to own a copy. Plus it would make money for sure.

Thanks all,
I'll get back to Jack Herris and get the address of the people who now own his computer layout/discs of the book etc and see if I can sort out the legal details with them. I would want to make some small additions to the book, but nothing major. I own the artwork, so no problem there.

Excellent. We definitely need to make an effort to get a book like this back into circulation. Thanks Alex

The position is that FMP is now owned by another publisher, who has the film which the printer used to print HITEB. So it would only be a question of reprinting. The problem is, trying to convince the publisher to do it. I will sound them out on it. Jack Herris tells me that it is now much cheaper to do a small print run than it was when the book was first published. Thanks for your interest, everybody.
