Werner Voss and Billy Bishop
Mates,
Stumbled across something that puzzle's me.
Was there ever a tangle between Billy Bishop and Werner Voss?
Have only read one instance of it and it sounds real shakey and have no other accounts other than what I just read?
The source claimed it is from Dr. Dr. Uebelscherz, the Curator of the "Gemeinheitliche Stiftung zur Katalogisierung und Erhaltung der im Kriege verloren geglaubten, aber im Rahmen der Wiedervereinigung der deutschen Statten und des Zusammenbruchs des Sozialismus wiederentdeckten Schaetze des Preussischen und Kaiserlich-Deutschen Flieger Kulturerbes.
Any takers on this one.

If your only source is...
... a Dr.Dr. Uebelscherz, then I would take it with a grain of salt. His name translates as "bad joke"! And he must have one heck of a big brass plate to contain the whole name of his foundation (Stiftung).

Hello,
this is a joke, and not meant earnestly...
The Nieuport 17 of Lt Werner Voss
"... shortened as GSzKuEdiKvgaiRdWddSudZdSwSdPuKDfKE e.V ..."
It does support the idea of the usual military german abbreviation dicta though.
Greetings,
Catfish

Voss & Bishop
Tom
No the two much vaunted fliers they never met. Bishop flew his first OP with 60 Sqn on 25 Mar 17 and between then and Voss getting the OPleM on 6 Apr 17 with associated leave, 60 Sqn only tackled with Js 2 on 2 Apr 17 - this was A Flight (Bishop was with C Flight); who lost 2Lt Williams to Ltn Bernert. Voss was back by 7 May 17, but Bishop went on leave 8 May to 22 May. From then until Voss' light wounding on 6 Jun 17 (combat with 6 Naval and 54 Sqn) 60 Sqn only tackled with Js 5 on 28 May. This was Caldwell's B Flight. In this Caldwell's was out fought and his Nieuport was shot up by a 'black & red' Albatross with streamers. You will no doubt be aware that Voss has been figured as the pilot of this a/c. However whilst Voss was up and about, the said Albatros was more likely flown by Kurt Schneider the SF. Pointedly the details of a 34 Sqn RE8 FTL on 12 Apr 17; matches a claim by Schneider and the RE8's attacker was described as a 'black' EA.
Cheers Russ
