Franklin
They are the only two victories he achieved, one each with Nos 32 and 24 Squadrons.
Born in 1891, his family home was 66 Station Road, Sidcup (not far from where I live). He was educated at Repton and Sandhurst and entered the army on the 25 September 1911 (gazetted to the 2nd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment) and was in Bermuda when war broke out. He came over with the first Canadian contingent and landed in October 1914. He became a Major in the 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment but transferred into the RFC.
He died on Saturday 11 May 1918, aged 27 and was buried in Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetary. His name is inscribed on the Sidcup War Memorial and on two other memorials in the area, Holy Trinity Church and St John's Church.
Apparently the book "Blandford To Baghdad", covers his schooldays, his time at Sandhurst, pre-WW1 service, life in the trenches in WW1, flying training, active duty flying the DH2 in France, work as an instructor at Joyce Green and the period in command of No 72 Squadron until his untimely death.
