bastable9 Observer Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Athens, Ohio, USA Posts: 25	James McCudden In THEY FOUGHT FOR THE SKY, Quentin Reynolds repeatedly refers to James McCudden as an Irishman, yet he was born in Kent. Is this an error, or were his parents Irish ?

The Prologue to McCudden V.C. by Cole begins "The McCuddens were an Old Catholic family from Ulster" and the family could trace an Irish heritage back through generations. J.T.B. McCudden was, however, born in Gillingham, Kent. With a father of Irish descent and a mother of Scots descent the English born ace was very much a son of the United Kingdom. Salut! Kirk
