Hauptmann Felix Jacobi - WW1 Zeppelin Pilot

Hi everyone,

I am researching a Zeppelin pilot named Felix Jacobi. He was Captain of at least two German army craft - the z VII and (i think) the LZ-81, both of which were shot down but which he survived.

Felix Jacobi was also my fiancées grandfather - He also was the brother-in-law of Ernst A Lehmann of Hindenberg fame, a fact that I've not seen online.

Can anyone on these forums shed any light on Jacobi? My fiancée does know that he was after the war a General in (she thinks) in the Luftwaffe but there seems to be little information available online.

Any help gratefully received, all emails responded to :-)

Smile Thanks!

Luftschiffharry, Jaba - Thanks so much for the info and the pics - fascinating!

It was the first time that many of Jacobi family had seen these pictures so greatly appreciated Luftschiffharry.

The landing at Luneville in particular was quite interesting.

Despite Captain Jacobi landing the Z IV rather than trying to skulk back over the border to Metz, the incident seemed to increase suspicion at a time when tensions were rising between Germany and France. I even tracked down articles written in the NY Times! There are postcards around with photos as well - my favorite has a somewhat dispirited Captain Jacobi standing by while French army officials swarm around the Gondola.

The late General's son (my father in law) became very ill shortly after I posted my request, and he will get to see these pictures of his father very soon, so many thanks once again.

Thumbs up honourary cup ("Ehrenbecher) Felix Jacobi

Hi Mark,
here a new photo from Z IV, presumably in Allenstein.

I would also like to point to this side.
Ehrenbecher für erfolgreiche Angriffe aus der Luft
There it is about the lending of an honourary cup to Felix Jacobi.
